Softwood is renowned for its versatility and strength. Sourced from all over the globe, with a large breadth of applications and a remarkably aesthetic appeal, softwood can be used across a broad range of internal and external projects – from furniture and flooring to decking, landscaping, external joinery and structural applications. Softwoods are more readily available and easily manipulated. They also develop at a quicker pace, leading to lower cost levels.
Sawn Timber
Redwood S4S
Redwood is evaluated for its durability and resistance to termites and decay, both of which are immediately distinguishable due to the colour of the wood. The interior portion of the tree’s reddish-brown heartwood contains extractives that make it resistant to insects and rot.
Whitewood S4S
Eastern White Pine
Eastern White Pine is the most common craft wood. It is relatively cheap and easily available, from very knotty to totally clear. For these reasons, eastern white is used extensively in all areas of woodworking, cabinets, scrollsaw & craft work, folk art and even wood turning for table legs.
EUROPEAN SPRUCE
European Spruce (White Wood) is a premium light-coloured softwood known for its fine texture, straight grain, and excellent strength-to-weight ratio. It offers clean machining, reliable stability after kiln drying, and is available in both rough-sawn and S4S (surfaced on four sides) finishes.
EUROPEAN PINE
European Pine (Red Wood) is valued for its warm natural tones, attractive grain patterns, and distinctive knots that give the timber a rich, character-filled appearance. Slightly denser than spruce, it provides excellent durability and finishing performance, and is available in both rough-sawn and S4S finishes.
